Rot rituals

Rocky,

i can feel your pain , went out this morning and found top rot....boy that
stuff moves!..wasn't visible yesterday....thus i began the ritual of put
the forks on the tractor ......use the bucket to lift..the pumpkin...and
what I found was a small crack into the cavity......"teaser cracks" I call
them...all looks well for so long as you never see them then
boom.....rot...........so i slip the forks under the pumpkin to take it
over to the barn scale......there i weigh the pumpkin and then put on the
compost and cut it open to examine wall structure and thickness blossom
ends etc......then i decide weather to keep the seed.....if you don't have
a tractor.......sometimes you can cut the pumpkin/squash into large chucks
and weigh them..... then add it.... and weep....drink a beer.....go back
and double check to make sure this isn't just a nightmare ..if you step in
pumpkin squish its real ..if you decide to go this route it is best to
figure if the "dark horse is dead....as the longer you wait the smellier it
gets......and you be weigh bucket of mush...... the next is very
important.... i get the bbQ out put more beer on ice.......make youself a
fine dinner........realize you have hit new heights in your
growing.....start figuring next years stratagey.......what will you
plant... and start the dream again................rolling out the BBQ.shall
it be shrimp or chicken?? oooh Salmon sounds good......damn
rot!.................brock
