webpage's sad update

Pumpkintears, (I mean pumpkineers)
I just finished converting my video to still shots, and then
redid the
webpage for all to see what happens to a cucurbit once it starts to
rot.. I am totally amazed at how fast 2 things happened today.
1. The rotting spot grew, changed colors, and is definitely killin old
dark horse, but I am glad to know after digging under neath the squashto
look at her belly, that I never got that rush of "pumpkin sludge that I
was so afraid I was going to see. Instead, her belly was as white as
could be, and actually, it was kinda sucked in, and wasnt even touching
the ground. No soft spots, or holes anywhere underneath ..
The big problem is was it old age, sclerotinia stem rot, which
according to Don Langevin can affect the fruit (or veggie - what ever it
is) in the cool mid September weather. This problem was not covered in
his new book, so I didnt find much else on it.
2. My other thing I couldnt believe that happened so fast is the fact
that pumpkin doctors went through a few cases of beer in a matter of an
hour and a half.. Whew.. They do house calls, so I guess I can not
complain.. lol It is real nice to have a support team of knowledgable
people around you, even if the final diagnosis is not what yuo want to
hear..
An autopsy will be performed Wednesday, my next scheduled day
off from
work, and at that time, I will look around for wall thickness, weigh
chunks as they are cut from the body to get a final weight, and then the
extaction of those precious seeds. After a few weeks of drying, I will
offer them up to the people on this great list. If anyone wants some,
please lets do an exchange of some seeds, maybe from your babies this
year.. If you are a rookie, or have none to exchange, sned me self
addressed bubble pack withyour return address, and proper postage, adn I
will have them off to you in a jiffy.. Chris Andsersen, yours will be in
the mail as soon as I deem them fit to be sent (good and dry that is! )
Chris is the man , please always remeber him, he is the father
of the
815 which grew Dark Horse.. RIP Dark Horse.. RIP..
