AG hybriding?

I am trying to figure out the best cross I could make to get the best
seeds....
O.K., well, if 2 strains of AG's are self pollinated, then crossed, would the
resulting seeds produce a hybrid? I am trying to figure out how this works.
Or do you have to backcross it with one of it's parents?
I have a Brock 591 which is a self pollinated 887 Orr, and a 618 Wallace,
which is a self pollinated 567.5 Mombert. Both the Orr and Mombert are in the
top 10 of the best pumpkin strains, accoring to the list I have. So, if I
crossed the Wallace and the Brock, would this result in a hybrid, that might
have the "hybrid vigor" and the best qualities of both? Or should I self
pollinated them to purify the strain even more?
I also have the 627 Hester, (the seed that produced "Scar"), which has a lot
of splitting and exploding problems....
Come on guys, I need some advice on this, it CAN'T totally be all 100% chance,
I need some good bredding advice to get the best seed possible!
