The Big E weigh-off

Greetings!

The Big E (Eastern States Exposition) weigh off is behind us for this year,
and it was a fantastic time.

Barring the horrible traffic jams in the Springfield, MA area, we arrived at
the Mallary Arena to find pumpkins and squash on their pallets, labeled with
each grower's name.

Twenty-five pumpkins and 6 squash competed for prizes. Two lifting crews were
assembled and the weighing began. Of all the pumpkin entries, the smallest was
grown by Clifton Morton of Amherst, MA at 54.8 lbs. and the largest by Ed
Marko of Adams, MA at 693.2 lbs, narrowly edging out James Maxamillian's
693.0.

The smallest squash, also grown by Clifton Morton weighed 53.6, with the
largest grown by Dorothy Wzorek, Westfield, MA at 527.8 lbs.
