Re: Pumpkin Displays
Beth:
Pumpkin totems work. Stack them with larger ones on the bottom, then paint
faces or stack after they've been carved. These make great driveway markers.
I have seen the Milford, CT webpage (not in my laptop address book) and I
have to say Wayne Hackney and Brian Kitney did an outstanding job. Details on
the site. Drop Wayne a line for the URL. I'm sure you'll find ideas you can
run with. Wayne and Brian are the ultimate Halloween decorators.
A large, symmetrical pumpkin would work nicely on the frame of an old pram.
This makes a lovely pumpkin coach.
Maizes can be made of bales of hay or straw quite easily, although the
problem of what to do with it afterwards can be a nuisance. I suppose you
could donate to a farm or someone with bunnies to care for. Hay is a premium
to bunny keepers.
I saw a great display at the Big E last year. They hung a scarecrow on the
side of a faux wall, then created fabric covered holes where the eyes are on
it's face. The hook was that it lured you to investigate and touch or feel
the scarecrow, or even take a photo op, then right as the person least
suspects, the person on the other side of the wall yells "Boo". My mother
fell for this and jumped out of her skin; it was a riot.
That just about exhausts my ideas. Hope I was of some help.
Still in a holding pattern.
