Done with a month to go..99Andrews 590

Well,my biggest pumpkin for this year has gone soft...it had a blosson end
split in the first week of August (which I tree-tanglefooted) but continued
to grow for another week.It stopped growing and I hoped it was resting, then
after another week I hoped it was just done and hanging out for October 2.But
then reality set in(rot) and it went soft last Sunday. We weighed it
tuesday...1999 Andrews 590 U.O.W........a new personal best by 172lbs.
(Thankyou FIREMAN 243 for the use of you scale and muscle.)
Here's my question......I have 8 pumpkins/squash left that are pretty much
done also. They seem to have all matured in about 60-65 days..I'm assuming due
to horrific weather and neglect at critical times....How do I keep them
around for another month?Keep them on the vine?cut'm and stick them in the
garage?Cold storage? What concerns me is that there was only a spot of rot on
my 590...the rest of the pumpkin innerds were all soupy like an overripe
melon, not like a rotted mellon. It didn't stink other than the fermenting
smell(new recipe for pumpkin wine if your interested). Are all my
pumpkins/squash going to go the way of my 590?Help?
