Not too much....I have problems with Mosaic virus on BOTH of my Burpee
Prizewinners.. But I guess I can count myself lucky as far as the A.G.'s, so
far.
As for frost protection, last year I used floating row cover, then a tent of
plastic over that, and put in about 50 gallon insulated containers of hot
water all around under the leaves. My goal was not just to protect from frost
but to keep the temperature over 60 or so. Spraying with seaweed also can
help plants survive frost. Wetting the leaves with water can offer some
protection as a last resort, if unable to cover. Last year I wasn't able to
cover our garden one night, so I went out every few hours and sprayed water
all over with our garden hose. The temp of the water coming from the pipes in
our house was VERY warm compared to the cold outdoor temperature, so it saved
all of our plants.
