Re: any thoughts
To the Broc's and all other growers that have ever wondered...
Good questions...requires a lot of contemplation...
These are the kind of questions I have been asking
myself for the last few weeks. The answers will benefit
AG growers worldwide, if there is such a thing as an
answer. I am of the belief that ALL influences upon
the pumpkin will affect it one way or another. What
Mike Nepereny, Bob Attaway, Doug Adams, Barb
Kincaid, Frank Milican and all other growers south
of the Mason-Dixon line, including myself, have to
really study is the effect of this unbelievable heat in
relation to our growing. Should we alter our planting
time, our soil, our watering and feeding, our pest control
methods??? Do we have dreams and aspirations? No,
but we've got some of the finest seed ever produced on
earth planted in much tilled soil that has been babied
to the point of cake mix and 100 days later there's not
ONE pumpkin on them!!! So, we've gotta figure this thing
out if we're ever gonna make some sort of significant mark
upon this sport, and this just isn't a "southern heat" thing
I'm talking about. Whatta ya say, Gary Burke? What was
some little seemingly unimportant thing you did up there
in pleasant temerature Canada that may have had an
impact on the growth of the 1092? Woops, forgive me...
I didn't mean to ramble on like this. Later.
