So, what day did you pollinate last year?
Pretty weird coincidence, Chris: last year my pumpkin ended up weighing
428 pounds (!) and it gained about 20% of its weight in the last 20 days
(Sept 17-Oct 7) and during the month of Sept (1-30) it went from 240# to
420#. That pumpkin, however, was pollinated on the 25th of July whereas
my 940 Mombert was pollinated the 6th of July (big difference). So the
940 is now at day 65 and last year's pumpkin (the 779.5 Bobier) was only
on its 46th day (and growing +4"OTT every day) on September 9. So . .
when I look to see where I was last year on the 65th day, I come up with
411# and it added another 17 in the next 8 days--only +2# per day. Now,
I do feel bucked up by the fact that I added +7# last night and that
this pumpkin doesn't look nearly as old/mature as the one last year. No
cantalouping, although I have been seeing some ribbing for the last two
weeks.
