RE: bear in the garden

If the skunk is just visiting your garden at night and thats all I would
personally leave it alone, because skunks are great rodent hunters and also
eat insects like grasshoppers army worms, cutworms grubs, tobacco worms,
potato beetles among others. But if they take up residence under the house
thats another story, trapping them is the only way I know to control them
with a live trap. Bait with cat kibbles and place the trap in a large black
plastic bag with the open end propped up at the opened end of the trap, if
you catch him then slip another plastic bag over the other end of the cage,
and you should be home free and spray free too. But don't be surprised if
you come back to the house and find the skunk's mate and haave to do the
whole procedure all over again. When all tresspassers have departed, close
off their entrance way.

Sorry to hear about the bear problem....maybe he's leaving you something
to
compost with. Does anybody know a good skunk repellent?? Hurricane Floyd
was not much when it arrived up here in Plymouth, MA... just some blown
over leaves, no really bad damage.
