any ideas??

List
you know the problems I've been having with this rot or whatever it has
been the last 2 years. Could this scenerio be part of my problem. MAYBE
I had this rot thing taking place and when I tilled the patch after
removing all vines. (I have always removed all vines each year and haul
away). I sowed in very thick a cover crop of winter rye!! Now If you
remember last year was very warm in nov. and dec. I had rye the was
atleast 6" to 8" tall by christmas. We had very warm temps for our area
and when the snow hit it came in a huge storm which dumped about 16
inches and stayed most of the winter. Could the thick (very thick)
coverage or rye coupled with the snow insultated the soil enough to
"protect" whatever was in my soil. Thus causing it to come back bigger
and stronger then ever before!! I left the cover crop on the patch and
tilled it in as the plant required more space. some areas weren't tilled
till say end of june or 1st week of july. just a thought and would
appreciate any of your thought either privately or to the list!! Thanks
for your help!!
The carlsons dan and Beth
