Connie,
Age of your pumpkin determines on how you will fertilize. If I remember
right you have young pumpkins so i would continue a fert program. My
pumpkins are getting old at 75 days from pollination and i begin to mellow
out a bit on the fert. Most the information you read about or hear about
has to be thought out ....and common sense is number one on application of
these methods. If the ground is real wet why water?? Trying to meet a 350
gallon a week application......just depends ...........shading is another
thing that just depends.....i opted not to shade this season as our night
temps are cold and I wanted to warm the pumpkins up........i think this
late in the season you don't need to shade.......but the bottom line is you
just try things and develope your technique you feel is good.......always
analyze what you do....does it make good sense....and improve on it next
year. ......MB
