<< George,
We have been having the same type of problem at the Anamosa Show in
Iowa. although numbers have been down to say 40 from the usual 60 to65,
the quality has also slipped a little. i think this can be contributed
to 3 things. The little guy who is "only" packing a 300 Plus pounder
gets scared off from the big boys. 2nd, In our sistuation, has been
the addition of other sites in wisconsin. We used to get several grower
down from the northern states but they are staying closer to home. 3rd,
is the past couple of years have been pretty tough conditions and even
experienced grows (yours truely) have struck out!! Just my thoughts.
I have a friend that works in a sister plant that has a couple of
200# I think and I plan on forwarding your message to him and see if
he'll pack his over to give some support to your show!! just my thoughts

They would be more then welcomed. Like you mentioned, A lot of growers are
staying in Wisconsin or going there. I think they offer more money.
I would like to see at least 20 pumpkins In Desplaines. That is not that much,
I'm bringing 4 myself. I think A 600lb pumpkin will win this year or at least
do well.
Thanks,
George J.
