I called the Kospells also, it seems that he sent his wife to DesPlaines
with the #629 and picked up $300.00 for first place, and he took the #679 to
Ocowomoc, WI. and placed 2nd for $500.00, his comments were this: (If
Illinois wants to see big pumpkins at their weigh-offs? they better raise
their prize money to be competitive with other weigh-off sites in bordering
States) He also said he was going to take his pumpkins from this year to
(Iowa) Now, I know to a lot of us growing big pumpkins isn't about the money,
but then again to some of us it is, and if the prize money is larger just a
few miles away into a bordering State then it would seem to be the smart
thing to do by taking your pumpkin there. Thanks everyone for there input,
Greg, you were still right, the #629 is the largest pumpkin ever officially
weighed in (Illinois).
