Elk Grove vs Half Moon Bay
Perhaps it is an oversimplification to say small fruit goes to Elk Grove and
Large to HMB, but probably true. HMB has big prize money and national
recognition. The winner there will go home with about $5000.
Elk Grove is a newcomer, and this year, with the addition of Apple Computers
as a sponsor, the first prize is $3,000. If this will bring out more and
larger pumpkins is a question which will be answered Saturday.
Until I saw the increased prize money on the EG announcement, I thought I had
a chance at some bucks this year. My 274 pounder last year was good for 24th
place, and lots of fun.
See you Nor Cal people on Sat. Elk Grove is a wonderful family oriented
community festival.
