Re[2]: Cats in the garden

My nephew has raised beds, and he is having to put chicken wire down
over them to keep his cat out of the beds. The beds have already been
planted and the seeds will be able to come up easily through the wire.
Beds are easier to do than a big expanse on the ground, but that's
still possible. It is best if you plant first. I used orange and
lemon peels, and they worked quite well, as long as you continually
refresh them. I twist them to release the scent before scattering
them on the garden. My sister sticks little sticks in the ground to
keep her cats out. I did a garden in an area where everything was
raised beds and all the people had cats, and everything had to be
     covered with chicken wire.

I think it's easier to put the chicken wire a couple of inches *above* the soil.
That should keep the cats out of the bed altogether.
