There is an excellent book called 'Maples of the World' by D. M. van Gelderen
et al:
D. M. van Gelderen et al. Maples of the World. Portland: Timber Press,
1994. ISBN 0-88192-000-2
It has a 10-page section detailing propagation processes for specific
species within Aceraceae. If you're interested, I can photocopy the
relevant pages and send them to you (let me know your address, etc.
if this is the case).
Another good book was written by Mike Dirr, the "God of Woody Plant
Propagation":
Dirr, Michael A. and Charles W. Heuser, Jr. The Reference Manual of
Woody Plant Propagation. Athens: Varsity Press, 1987.
My copy is elsewhere as I type this, so I don't have an ISBN number for
you.
Finally, there's a book by Timber Press specifically on Japanese Maples:
Vertrees, J. D. Japanese Maples. Portland: Timber Press, 1987.
ISBN 0-88192-848-7
Hope this helps!
Chris
