Denos' suppliment to Seed Germination Theory and Practice" pp 6-7
touches on this as well as the effects of smoke (Kirstenboch research).
Those familiar with it may be able to help with some specific questions
about the general process, like distinguishing between those that
benefit from it from those that actually require it, for example those
associatied with prarie fires, or Epilobium (fireweed), do not, if I
undersand, actually require it.
I recall seeing something to the effect of requirement, on nature
programs re: various forest conifers, but I am not at all certain of
this being true.
