Re: Artemisia

Artemisia Absinthium, at least, is QUITE unpalatable. The extreme bitterness imparted to it by the
alkaloid absinthium makes it so.

It was used in medieval times to expel parasitic worms (still does it, for those of you homeopaths). It
is now used in the preparation of Absinthe, a (narcotic?) liquer sold only a handful of countries
around the world (Banned in U.S. the early part of this century).

Grows like a weed, hard to kill - I pulled at least 10 out last fall and left them on top of the compost
heap all winter (to -20°) and they've got fresh leaves growing on them!

It does seem to repel garden pests, though (the four-legged type as well. Seems they don't care
for the aroma) JK
