Dear Ellen,

Rooting English Holly cuttings is easy (Ilex aquifolium), but can vary
slightly between cultivars. The general idea is to harvest semi- to
well-hardened shoot tips, a few inches long, to treat them with rooting
hormone, and then to lay back and watch. You'll find good information at
the following URL (a database on cutting propagation by species or cultivar
- VERY USEFUL!) :

Dirr and Heuser's 1987 book, "The reference manual of woody plants", has a
good general description also. I suppose any basic manual will also
provide the answers you are looking for.

Good luck!

Denise
