Candy Tuft Cuttings

Subject: Candy Tuft Cuttings
I received an email from someone that needed this plant for cuttings for a
funeral. The plant is from the person who passed away and cuttings are
going to be given to everyone that wants one at the funeral. I told her
what I thought
she should do but having never done cuttings from Iberis I wanted to see
what you folks had to say....

Iberis 'candy tuff' is propagated from cuttings and from divisions and seed.
In the case of a funeral 'give away' the best way to give a living plant
would be to take divisions which have enough roots to keep the plants
going. Store them in plastic bags until use and keep in the refrigerator.
If they wish to have the recipients do rooting then use of a rooting hormone
at 0.1% IBA will work well if the cuttings are taken from current years
growth.
They should use a soiless media such as perlite or vermiculite so that
there is reduced need for fungicides.

For information on how to use the dry dip rooting hormone look at

or for use of a liquid rooting hormones look at
