It is "The After-Dinner Gardening Book" by Richard W. Langer (1969) - and
you're right, it is very humorous. Picked this book up at a rummage sale
about 10 years ago and it must've been popular because it keeps cropping up
in gardening coversations and folks saying, "I have that book". <g>
Just glancing through it, I don't see that he mentions how long it takes for
orange to germinate but does say he keeps a light going above the pot to
keep the seeds warm. This will require futher investigation, another
late-night read!
