some plants can be planted deeper- other can not.
a safe rule is that plants that root from the stem like Phlox and geraniums
can be planted deeper.
But other plants that are Acaulescent that is they do not have stems above
ground must be planted at the right depth.  this is just a guide line.
You learn by experance which plants do best.
I have killed many a plant and I could not even begin to tell you diffrent
ways I have done it!!!!
