Why buy plants when you can grow them yourself.....?

I've picked purple coneflower, Echinacea angustifolia, in the late
summer - early fall season. The seed is small and dark colored, kind
of indented on one end and pointed on the other. Immature or
not-dried-out seed is sometimes attached to the flower parts, which
looks a bit like a tail, lighter in color. I remove the seed heads
from the plants, put them in a bag or can, let them dry, then shake
them to remove the seed. Works pretty well.
