Re: Scarify

Most succulents, especially cacti, are easily done in the plastic bag or
plastic container method. For some weird reason they germinate much better
with intensified local humidity, maybe a genetic trait still lingering from
their tropical ancestors. I have not had to scarify any cacti, or any
succulents that I can think of off hand. Some caudiciforms like baobobs
(Adansonia spp.) do a little better with some treatment but none that I have
grown stick out in the memory as being difficult germinators. Sometimes some
succulents have been hard to keep alive AFTER they have germinated, they
dampen off or something. This is the primary difficulty I have had and not
too often.
