My old Taylor's encyclopedia claims that petasites spread rapidly from
underground runners. My three or four plants put in three years ago or
more have not spread but the giant leaves certainly attract attention
and most think they must be tropical and not hardy here.
Can these be propagated from seed or must one dig up and split plants?
