Hello -
I have been lurking here for about 6 months now, and enjoying the wealth of
information on this list.
Last winter I had an infestation of indian meal moths and after eliminating
every possible source in my cupboards, I realized the moths were in my
seeds, especially vegetable seeds like corn and squash. to prevent this from
happening again (or still?) I am considering putting seeds in the freezer
for 3 weeks to kill any larvae that might still be hanging out there. I also
have lots of annual and perennial flower seeds. Can these seeds be stored
for awhile in the freezer? I have a self defrosting freezer which dessciates
everything in time. Also, I have found these moths impervious to plastic
bags and even jars! I don't have room there to store the seeds 'til spring.
I am gathering seeds for next year and I admit, I don't have time to clean
them as thoroughly as I would like. Any suggestions?
