Re: seed storage

I keep seeds in a small freezer that I purchased just for that purpose. It
is not a self-defrosting one, so I have to really protect the seeds so when
they defrost there is no moisture on them. I store seeds in small plastic
bags inside of larger plastic bags inside of plastic containers like
"Tupperware". So far, all the seeds have done well under such storage
conditions. I also use dessicant in the larger bags and plastic containers.
(The dried milk mentioned in another post works very well, but I use a
product sold as a dessicant. It can be dried out if it collects too much
water.)

When I collect seed of my own, sometimes I see little bugs crawling around.
By putting them in the freezer the bugs are killed. I also do this with
dried herbs, making sure the herbs are completely dried before putting them
in the freezer. The main thing is to keep seeds dry and cool.
