Hello Evano,
There are at least a couple of types of Lemon Grass, that I'm aware of. One
is the tall, clumping variety that does not seem to set seed, Cymbopogon
citratus. It is propagated by division, usually in the Spring as it comes
back to life here after our mild winters. We grow it outdoors where it does
die back if there's a freeze.
The other variety, Cymbogogon flexuosus, grows to about 12" tall and is
grown from seed. However, I have grown this type for over a year, and have
yet to see a seed head. I propagate it by division also.
Neither variety is invasive. The clumps just grow bigger each year, even
with lots of use.
