I use root cuttings for Geranium, ex. G. sanguineum and G. macrorhizum. They
are almost impossible to propagate from soft cuttings, they are difficult to
divide, seeds don't always come true, and root cuttings give me lots of
plants from just a few. I dig up the plant, cut of pieces of the root, and
divide them in pieces of 3-6 cm. I place them in a plastic tray/container ?
filled with sowing compost, and press them carefully against the soil. Then
I cover with a layer of sand, about 1 cm. After a week or so, the first
shots are appearing, and in a few weeks they are ready to pot.
