 I checked this page out - it's just a "quick n easy" device for doing
traditional air layering.  Air layering is typically for use on woody and
semi-woody plants.  The "old way" is to nick the bark, wrap moist moss
around the wound and wrap the whole thing in plastic.  After a few months
the wound will have rooted and you can cut the new plant off of the parent
plant.

Those of you that are burying your pumkin vines are already doing a form
of  layering.
