Re: name of plant

Ranjit,

I use these leaves myself in Indian cookery, and have read the common name
in Hindi as Meetha Neem; another of my cookbooks gives the common name as
Ghandela in Hindi and, in Marathi, as Kadhi limb. Other names just mean
"curry leaves", as I guess you know (eg. Kari patta; in Singhalese,
Karapincha; in Tamil, Karuvepila).

At any rate, the Latin name of this tree is Murraya koenigii, and is easily
available at all the Indian grocers around Toronto. I suspect it would be a
good deal easier to propagate the plant from fresh cuttings (sorry Duncan)
than to wait for seeds to sprout. It is often available very fresh, as
opposed to slightly dry.
