The British Trees website (http://www.u-net.com/trees/p12.htm) has
useful germination information on British native trees.
They say: Deeply dormant. Treat seed for 10 months from collecting to
planting nexr spring. Mix seed with peat and sand, keep moist and
allow to fluctuate outside naturally outside.
. Natural germination typically takes more than 18 months.
