Planting in spring is easiest. Use a knife to very gently just open the
suture (line where the shel halves join). It doesn't have to be wide- just
enough to let moisture in. Plant the nut on it's side in a pot, to about
half it's depth (half the nut still sticking above the soil) and water.
With the suture open, the kernal will take up water and germinate, usually
in about 2-4 weeks at 65-75 F.
