Hello everyone,

Thanks for the info. It's good to know there is someone on this list.
I'm relatively new and small/part time. Lat year was my first time
over 10,000 plants, selling mainly hydrangeas locally and over the
internet. That being the case, would a nursery like Bailey's be
willing to give me the time of day? I doubt that I could market more
than 2-3,000 plants of a cultivar at my current size. At what number
does propagating and selling plugs and 4" liners become
profitable/full time? Any suggestions for a wannabe?

it all comes down to sq.foot per month cost vers. profit
if you have 1000 sq.foot of space how much can you sell it for and how much did it cost you to get the crop ready; per month.
what i have found
plugs
cost per flat= $ 2
selling price for a 512 flat =$ 30
time frame 1 month
profit $18.60 per sq.foot per month
thats $18,600 - heat and other expense come out of that
and the thing is you can pot and sell the plants you dont sell as plugs
and one other thing
you need to make 3 times the money that you would make working for some one else,
if not you are doing it for fun
thanks
