RE: Clematis viorna

Hi Chris,

I've only done C. virginiana, but references seem to indicate that they're all pretty similar. I use 90 days of cold moist stratification and see at least half of them germinate within 2 months after they're out. I prefer putting sown containers in a garage or hoop house, because of the fluctuating temps, but had success with the refrigerator, too. C. viorna is lovely, so I'll be looking forward to hearing of your success.

Subject: Clematis viorna

Hi everyone,

It's that time of year again! I'm starting to think about plants to
grow from seed and have one that I'm stumped with.

I recently collected seed from Clematis viorna and was going to give
it a shot, but I understand that they're notoriously slow. I've never
tried Clematis from seed before but would like to give it a shot.

   Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks,

Chris
