Fluorescent lights are great for bottom heat but putting pots of seeds
directly on the fluorescent fixture is not a good idea. Any kind of an open
grate or grid will help, an old fluorescent fixture ceiling grid is fine. I
use a light stand which i built and can snailmail a drawing of, it uses
bottom heat from fluorescents also but the depth of a shelf of 1x2's
separates the top of the fixture from the bottom of the pot This plus
loosely draped clear plastic around the fixture works well in a cold
basement. J
