Hello from Cloverdale, CA

I live in zone 9 approx. 50 miles from the coast where Echium, E.
fastuosum (e.candicans) grow wild.  I would like to propogate these and
wonder what would be the easiest and fastest method.  I took a cutting
last spring and it is 3ft tall.  Would it be faster to take root
cuttings or side cuttings as I want to propogate twenty or so?

Any advise you might give me would be greatly appreciated.
