Hi everyone,
I am so excited. One of my 8 , Custard Apple seeds has germinated. ( It has
been almost 3 months) However my Papaya and other Rainforest seeds have
not germinated.
As some of you know I am a novice and for this year decided to follow
Norman Deno's suggestions for half my seeds and use the foam cup for the
other half.
The foam cups I use are smaller than the beverage size ( in Toronto quite a
few burger joints serve gravy in them.) I punched a hole in the bottom
with a screwdriver, filled it with seed starter. I then sprinkeled the
seeds and covered the large ones with some peat. I finally covered the cup
with lid similar to coffee lids , but mine are translucent with a small
hole on top.
To date Dr. Deno and the cups are in a dead heat.
Seeds have germinated at about the same time. The only problem I had with
the paper towel in the plastic bag is that the little root anchors itself
in the paper and you have to do surgery on the paper so as to not disturb
the other seeds.
I apologise if this is old news for the pro's, I just thought I should
share it with all in the event there were others like myself who are new to
seed germinating.
Happy "germinating".....Ranjit in Toronto
