Novartis seeds

Yesterday I went out to the factory outlet mall in Tuscola, Illinois to
pick up some things that I had been meaning to get for a while.

One of the things that I pass on the way out there is a huge warehouse-
type structure owned by NK, formerly known as Northrup-King. I was
amazed to see that there's a big sign on the building's side now that
says 'Novartis', but it still has the NK symbol. This prompted me to
do a little research on the Web, and it looks like Novartis is a merge
between NK, Ciba, and two other companies.

The press release on their web site (

   http://www.nk.com/infosilo/news/single.html

) seems to indicate that NK is focusing strictly on field crops. Does
this mean that they're dropping their flower and vegetable lines? It
sounds like it. Flower seeds will be sold by S&G, and veggies will be
under Rogers brand.

What does this mean? Is it a good thing? Just wondering if any of you
more experienced seed people have anything to say about this.

Chris
