There is a special kind of electrical tape that is made for those
conditions. I know I got some once from Radio Shack.
After you wrap the wire with it, you apply heat and it shrinks around
the wire and seals it off. You can also get special tube type insulation
that will do the same thing when you apply heat. It doesn't cost that
much if I remember correctly.
