Re: lantana

I have to say that after spending several hundred dollars with T&M over the past
3 years, this year I purchased seed elsewhere. I had 0% germination with
rodgersia from T&M and a solid flat of seedlings is us already from a December
sowing. Yesterday I burned my packet of Romneya....this is the true test of seed
quality, if it germinates, I'll sing the praises of Jelitto for all eternity.
I've never been a fan of growing from seed because I've never had great success
with it. When I was younger, I never thought of the possibility of 'seed
quality'. Now I realize that it makes all the difference in the world. Eight
years ago I spent nearly a hundred dollars for primula seeds from T&M. I ended
up with a handful of plants, thinking the primula was truely for experienced
growers to handle from seed.
This year I purchased seed directly from the APS (of which I am a member) and I
have literally hundreds of plants already up (seed collected from all over the
world....) from a December sowing.
Don't let T&M seed failure undermine your confidence as a grower!
