RE: propagation DIGEST V1 #0


Just over two years ago I bought some Magnolia campbellii seeds (7). Divided them and started one set at 70 inside, one in fridge, one outside, and the rest delayed until midsummer. All were put outside the following winter… so far not a single germination!!!

I think these are VERY difficult…  Maybe the seeds have to be very fresh…

You should have some root germination in the fridge in a few months. Once spring comes move the seedlings to a deep pot and under warmer conditions the stems should emerge.

One year I started 50 seeds in the fridge and ended up with 45 plants.  It will take a number of years for the plants to grow large enough to flower.
