I have an incomplete reference for you regarding your relative in England:
The Heritage Seed Program run by Heather Apple. She is in Ontario
somewhere. I learned of her through an Anthropology course here in
Victoria. She has developed techniques to preserve seeds from endangered
plants. Goodluck finding her! You might try a university or college
department, or government office.
