Mina lobata is an easy seed to germinate, just don't start it too early 5-6
weeks before frostfree date if fine. Be aware that it may grow rapidly and
need a stake to keep it out of your other seedlings. It is an extremely
vertically opportunistic vine here, and planting it at the base of a sunny
arbor resulted in the plant going up the arbor, up the tree next to it, into
the electric and telephone lines going into the house. I didn't want to know
if it had actually gotten inside so I Enjoy, Joannedidn't look. It does start
blooming late in August, if started in mid-April here in zone 6b, but blooms
till October - since it's base becomes toughened and all the tender stuff is
at the top of the plant by then, so it avoids frost damage. There are two
color forms, regular orange/yellow and a newer yellow/white form, however the
plants I got from the so called yellow/white form were just a paler orange/
yellow shade. Saved seed anyway.
