Re ginny's request for seed germ. techniques,
For the past two years I have been germinating any 'large' seeds (large
enough to handle with tweezers and wearing my reading glasses) on damp
paper towels folded over and then stored in baggies to prevent them from
drying out. This is especially helpful for seeds that require cold
treatment (refridgerator room at a premium) or for seeds that take more
than a month to germinate. One of the biggest benefits of this method -
especially for those new to seed germination is being able to look at the
seeds from time to time and reassure yourself that they havn't mysteriously
vanished, died, or just plain rotted away. It only takes a little practise
to recognize that the seed is still in good condition. Viable? - well
that's another question!
Hope this answer is in 'acceptable form' this is my first day on 'the list'
Ginny - have fun with your course!
