Re: Iris seeds


All iris produce seeds, they are at the end of the flower stalk, about a month
or so after the flower fades. Its a light papery brown seed pod that opens
from the top. This type of iris is from a rhizome, not a bulb (they are
similar, but not the same). Many bulb plants do produce seeds, like alliums,
but many are easier and cheaper to propagate by bulbs or rhizomes. 
All iris seeds benefit from a 4-6 week cold period, so try that on your seeds.
Iris Setosa grow wild here. They prefer moist, cool, partly shaded conditions.
