I beg to differ. Democracy does not rule in this case.
Duncan McAlpine OWNS this list; the subscribers do not. He started it;
he takes care of it (something that takes a good deal of time); he pays for
the costs of the server time, connection, etc. It's HIS list, which he
offers to all of us as a service, free of charge. He has a perfect right
to set any rules he wishes and to remind people of those rules as often as
he wishes. He can call the list anything he wishes. If people don't like
it, they can, quietly and with good manners, remove themselves forthwith.
Duncan has provided a valuable service to us all and does not deserve
getting any grief over it, privately or publicly.
