Q about rooting hormone

Hi all!

I have a question about rooting hormone powders. I use rootone, and I dip
my stems in it, place it into a "pre-drilled" hole in pre-wetted rooting
medium, firm the medium around the stem and then water it in to settle the
rooting medium around the cutting. When I water it in, don't I wash away
the rooting hormone? I don't use much water, but I can't imagine it stays
adhered to the cutting. Is there any other way to settle the soil around
the cutting that won't wash off the rooting hormone powder?

I've always wondered about this. Thanks for your help!
