Re: Arisaema growing on


My arisaemas are in pretty clayey soil, on a slope as Louise has 
described.  The clay has been "improved" but is still quite moisture 
retentive.  I'd guess that disappearance in summer dormancy from drying 
out is the culprit, though obviously many species are border-line hardy 
for your winter conditions. If American jack-in-pulpit is among the 
ghosts, it wouldn't be winter conditions, though.  Do you have success with 
other woodlanders 
with long dormancies, ie, Primula sieboldii, P.kisoana, Roscoea spp?
